Introduction to rendering skills using pencil crayons
Research and analysis of existing Textile Art pieces
Tracing and transferring designs
Measuring and accurate cutting
Manipulation of yarn to create their own yarn artwork piece
Year 8
Development of rendering skills using pencil crayons
Research and analysis of existing Textile Art pieces
Introduction to Textile Artists and techniques they use
Analysis of fabrics and their structures
Composition skills and understanding of component parts
Hand embroidery techniques
Year 9
Further development of rendering skills using pencil crayons
Observational drawing skills
Research of Textile Artists and the styles and techniques they use
Batik skills and use of fabric dyes
Hand embroidery techniques, free machine embroidery and beading skills
GCSE Art & Design - 3D Design or Textile Design (OCR J172/J173/J174)
Examination (40%)
The exam is set by the exam board and the students will complete this in the January of Year 11.
The exam work is completed in the same format as the controlled assessment.
Controlled Assessment (60%)
The students are given various starting points from which they can build a project. Their project will contain:
