Glass Cone Centre
At The Wordsley School, we recognise that some pupils may face challenges in accessing education within a traditional classroom setting. In response, we have established The Glass Cone Centre – a dedicated provision offering a supportive, smaller-scale learning environment tailored to individual needs.
The Glass Cone Centre is staffed by a team of experienced and specialist educators who deliver a personalised curriculum that balances academic progress with pastoral support. Our focus is to ensure that every pupil is given the opportunity to succeed, grow in confidence, and positively engage in their education with the skills and strategies they need.
For Key Stage 3 pupils, The Glass Cone Centre provides a six-week placement designed to explore and address the behaviours, routines, and external factors which may be impacting a pupil’s learning. During this time, pupils will follow a catch-up curriculum to support their reintegration into lessons without academic disadvantage.
For Key Stage 4 pupils, the focus shifts to preparing for life beyond school. Pupils access a core curriculum of English, Maths, Science and Digital Functional Skills, alongside a flexible range of optional subjects. Pupils may also take part in a programme in conjunction with Work N Learn, which combines two days of work placement each week with continued study at The Glass Cone Centre, equipping them with valuable skills for further education, training, or employment.
The Glass Cone Centre places the wellbeing and progress of young people at its heart, helping each pupil to re-engage with learning and make a success of their time at school.
