Careers

From the beginning of Year 7, our priority within the Careers Department is to provide pupils with excellent information, advice and guidance regarding their future career and life beyond The Wordsley School. Our programme aims to get students thinking about how their education and development at school impacts their further education and careers. Students being by looking at their own skills and qualities before moving onto more specific job-related workshops.

In Year 10, students take part in a week’s work experience placement. They are expected to choose their own placement, contact employers and keep a work log throughout their placement. This aims to develop their communication skills and initiative, whilst allowing them to take responsibility for their own learning.

During Year 11, students are provided with a wealth of information and opportunities to aid them with their Post-16 decisions. Students will be encouraged to sign up to careers interviews, receive visits from Connexions and be supplied with news on college events throughout the year.
