Science

At The Wordsley School, our Science curriculum is designed to spark curiosity and empower our young learners to make sense of the world around them. Through the study of Biology, Chemistry, and Physics we want our pupils to develop a deep knowledge of key scientific principles, enabling them to be able to answer the fundamental big question in Science ‘Why’? Our curriculum equips pupils with transferable skills vital for future careers. From analytical thinking and problem-solving, to teamwork and effective communication, we prepare students to thrive in a range of industries. Our curriculum embeds our school’s key values, encouraging pupils to reflect on the impact of science on their daily lives. Pupils carry out investigative work, asking ‘big questions’ and discovering how science explains how our world works. We have integrity. Pupils make informed conclusions using scientific evidence, challenging ideas by evaluating information critically and fairly. We show resilience.Through problem-solving and practical work, pupils develop skills in organisation, collaboration and working independently —skills that are valuable in both science and their future careers. We show kindness. Pupils learn about how science impacts the planet and our society through an understanding of sustainability and responsibility. We show respect. Pupils explore the contributions different scientists have made to understanding how our world works and develop an appreciation of how scientific advancements can contribute to positive global change. Whether our pupils aspire to pursue further scientific education or simply continue to be fascinated by the wonders of the natural world, our curriculum will inspire them to think critically, act responsibly and develop the skills and knowledge to succeed in life.
